Ray

Getting Started 

A ray can be described as an (infinitely) thin, (infinitely) long, perfectly straight curve. The ray entity represents half of a line in 3D space. A ray extends infinitely out from a point in a direction. To draw a ray see the Ray Tool.

In hsCADView, a ray entity consists of the following data in addition to the Common Data:

Property Name

Data Type

Description

Base Point

3D Point  (X, Y, Z coordinates)

The location in 3d space that the ray starts.

Directional Vector

Vector  (X, Y, Z coordinates)

The vector describing this rays direction.

Angle

Scientific Data

The angle at which this ray emits from the base point.

 

 

The above properties are shown in the Selection Property Tree when a ray entity is selected using the Selection Tool.
