Preset View Snap Tools

Working in the drawing environment is made easier by the ability to snap to common views within 3D space. The view snap tools provide this quick view manipulation.

 

Using the Preset View Snap Tools:

From the Toolbar: Find one of the Preset View Snap Tool icons ssViewSnapTopToolssViewSnapBottomToolssViewSnapFrontToolssViewSnapBackToolssViewSnapLeftToolssViewSnapRightToolssViewSnapSWToolssViewSnapSEToolssViewSnapNEToolssViewSnapNWTool on the View Toolbar (color coded red) and Click on the tool (this set of tools is part of a Flyout Toolbar). The view will now snap to the selected view of the drawing.

 
From the Shortcut Key: The default shortcut keys for the view snaps are located on the number pad.

Top View: "Num 5"
Bottom View: "Num 0"
Front View:"Num 2"
Back View: "Num 8"
Right Side View: "Num 6"
Left Side View: "Num 4"
South West View: "Num 1"
South East View: "Num 3"
North West View: "Num 7"
North East View: "Num 9"

 
From the Command Line: The command line keywords for the various view snaps are as follows:

"view_top"
"view_bottom"
"view_front"
"view_back"
"view_right"
"view_left"
"view_isometric_sw"
"view_isometric_se"
"view_isometric_nw"
"view_isometric_ne"

These can be entered into the Command Line, at the top of the notification window, then press the Enter/Return key to snap to that view.

 

Note: This tool will not remain active. This means you can use this tool at any time and without interrupting another tool processes.

 

Orthographic Views:

 

1. ssViewSnapTopTool Top View Tool - The Orthographic Projection Top View Tool is used to view an object from above. This traditional plan view used in architecture and building engineering can be thought of as a diagram of a room, a building, or a level (floor) of a building as if seen from a "bird's eye" view.

 

2. ssViewSnapBottomTool Bottom View Tool -The Orthographic Projection Bottom View Tool snaps the view to a bottom view, from underneath. This nontraditional plan view is used primarily in instances where additional object detail (to a top view) is necessary.

 

3. ssViewSnapFrontTool Front (South) View Tool -The Orthographic Projection Front (South) View Tool snaps the view to the front side. This traditional orthographic view is used in architecture and building engineering and is a critical elevation view (i.e the above-ground-level front view of a building).

 

 

4. ssViewSnapBackTool Back (North) View Tool - The Orthographic Projection Back (North) View Tool changes the view to looking from behind.This traditional elevation view (i.e. above ground level rear view of a building) is used in architecture and building engineering.

 

5. ssViewSnapLeftTool Left Side (West) View Tool - The Orthographic Projection Left Side (West) View Tool changes the view to the left side. This nontraditional orthographic view, however, is important in architecture and building engineering (i.e the above-ground-level left side view of a building).

 

6. ssViewSnapRightTool Right Side (East) View Tool - The Orthographic Projection Right Side (East) View Tool changes the view to the right side. This traditional orthographic view is also used in architecture and building engineering (i.e the above-ground-level right side view of a building)

 

 

Isometric Views:

 

1. ssViewSnapSWTool Southwest View Tool - The Isometric Projection Southwest View Tool changes the view to the front (south) and left (west) sides. Note: After a front view is arbitrarily assigned, four different isometric projections can be viewed as the object is rotated clockwise.

 

2. ssViewSnapSETool Southeast View Tool - The Isometric Projection Southeast View Tool changes the view to the front (south) and right (east) sides. Note: After a front view is arbitrarily assigned, four different isometric projections can be viewed as the object is rotated clockwise.

 

3. ssViewSnapNETool Northeast View Tool - The Isometric Projection Northeast View Tool changes the view to the back (north) and right (east) sides. Note: After a front view is arbitrarily assigned, four different isometric projections can be viewed as the object is rotated clockwise.

 

4. ssViewSnapNWTool Northwest View Tool - The Isometric Projection Northwest View Tool changes the view to the back (north) and left (west) sides. Note: After a front view is arbitrarily assigned, four different isometric projections can be viewed as the object is rotated clockwise.
