Pan View Tool

Getting Started  Previous  Next

The Pan View Tool is used to move the view around the drawing.

Using the Pan View Tool:

From the Toolbar: Find the Pan View Tool icon ssPanTool on the View Toolbar and Click on the tool. The tool is now active and ready for use.

From the Shortcut Key: This tool has no default shortcut key but the middle mouse button is commonly used to pan (see below).

From the Command Line: Type "pan" into the Command Line, at the top of the notification window, and press the Enter/Return key.

Note: This tool can be used via the Middle Mouse Button Click without the interruption of another tool's processes. This usage is noted below.

1.        After activating the pan tool, Click and hold the Left Mouse Button within the drawing screen. While holding the button down move the mouse and the view will move, as if being drug.

Reset:

After panning in this manner the tool will automatically reset. And you can choose a different tool or perform another pan view.

Note: It is possible to pan the drawing to where you can no longer see the drawing on the screen. If you cannot find the drawing use the Zoom to Extents to reset the view to focus on the drawing.

1.        Click and hold the Middle Mouse Button. While holding the button down move the mouse to translate the view over the drawing.

Note: You must have a middle mouse button to pan in this manner. Most wheels can be pressed down as the middle mouse button.

No Reset (When using Mouse Wheel):

By using the middle mouse button to pan the view does not keep the pan tool activated after panning. You can use other tools and within a tool process you may zoom in, zoom out and pan using the mouse without interrupting that tool's procedure. See Tool Concepts for more information

Note: It is possible to pan the drawing to where you can no longer see the drawing on the screen. If you cannot find the drawing use the Zoom to Extents to reset the view to focus on the drawing.
