Corner-Corner Rectangle Tool

The Rectangle Corner-Corner-Width Tool is responsible for drawing rectangles using either Line or Polyline entities (user preference) by specifying two corners and the width of the desired rectangle.

 

Drawing a Rectangle (Corner-Corner-Width):

From the Toolbar: Find the Rectangle Corner-Corner-Width Tool icon ssEntityRectangleCorCorWidth on the Entity Toolbar (color coded blue) and Click on the tool. The tool is now active and ready for use.

 
From the Shortcut Key: The default shortcut key for the point tool is the letter "Shift + R, 3". Simply press the key and the tool will be activated.

 
From the Command Line: Type "rectangle_corner_corner_width" into the command line, at the top of the Notification Window, and press the Enter/Return key.

 

1. Click on the drawing to specify the start point, the first corner, of the rectangle.

2.  Move the mouse and click to specify the end point, the next corner, of the rectangle.

3.  Again, move the mouse and click to specify the width point, designating the width, of the rectangle.

 

Reset:

After working through the necessary steps the rectangle is added to the drawing. The tool has now reset and you can either continue with other tools or drawn another rectangle.
Using reset (Space Bar) at any time while using this tool cancels all previous steps and restarts the tool.

 

To draw a rectangle from user keyboard data open the Tool Tab in the property tree.

1.  Type the corner point coordinates into the "Start Point" 3D Point Property Field found on the Tool Property Tree and press Enter to accept. This will position the first corner of the rectangle.

2.  Type the next corner point's coordinates into the "End Point" field and press Enter to accept. This will place a corner of the rectangle, denoting rotation.

3.  Type the width point's coordinates into the "Width Point" field and press Enter to accept. This will place designate the width of the rectangle and end the drawing process.

               OR

    Type the width length into the "Width" Scientific Data field and press Enter to accept. This will place designate the width of the rectangle and end the drawing process.

 

Reset:

After working through the necessary steps the rectangle is added to the drawing. The tool has now reset and you can either continue with other tools or drawn another rectangle.

mouse_20 Right Click: Brings up a Context Menu containing options for this tool.

Use Polyline: Instead of using lines to draw the rectangle, use a polyline.

keyboard_20 Escape (Esc): Cancels current tool and activates the default tool (Selection Tool).

keyboard_20 Space: Resets this tool.
